Your keys, your data: why Meeteor is bring-your-own-key

Most AI products buy model access in bulk and resell it to you inside a subscription. That's convenient, and it means every word of your calls passes through their servers on the way to the model.

Meeteor doesn't work that way, and won't. You paste your own Anthropic or OpenAI key into the app, it's stored in your operating system's credential vault, and requests go straight from your computer to your provider. We never see them.

What you get

  • A shorter list of who sees your calls. Your provider, under your own account and its terms, and nobody else.
  • Honest pricing. You pay the provider for what you use. With the default models that is typically one to two dollars per hour of calls, and Meeteor shows you the cost of every call.
  • Your choice of model. Use Claude, an OpenAI model, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or a model running on your own PC.

And if nothing should leave the machine

Local mode runs transcription and the AI on your own computer, using Ollama. In Local mode Meeteor only talks to programs on the same machine, and the app can prove it: every request is listed in the Transparency Center.

Why that lets us sell a license

Because we don't pay for your AI usage, there's nothing to meter. That's why Meeteor is a one-time license per major version instead of a monthly subscription, and why the free version doesn't need a credit card.
