How can we help?

Everything you need to install Meeteor, set it up and get the most out of it. Can't find it here? Contact us.

Getting started

Meeteor for Windows 11 is in private beta. Founders get the download right after checkout; everyone else can join the waitlist for free access.

  1. Run the installer. It installs for your Windows user only and needs no administrator rights.
  2. Get past SmartScreen. The beta isn't code-signed yet, so Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway. The download page lists the file's SHA-256 if you want to check it first.
  3. Follow the setup. On first start Meeteor walks you through where the AI and the transcription run, your keys, the downloads it needs, your microphone and speakers, and your first project.
You need Windows 11 (64-bit), about 1.5 GB of disk for the cloud setup or about 10 GB to run everything on your PC, and a microphone. A headset helps Meeteor hear the other side cleanly.

AI keys and costs

With the cloud setup, Meeteor uses your own accounts:

  • Anthropic (console.anthropic.com) writes the cards, summaries and Ask answers.
  • OpenAI (platform.openai.com) transcribes the call, unless you choose transcription on your PC.

Create a key in each console, paste it into the setup (or Settings → Providers), press Save, then Test. Keys are stored in Windows Credential Manager, never in files or logs.

You pay the providers directly. With the default models a call typically costs one to two dollars per hour. Settings → Transparency → Costs shows the cost of every call, and a budget guard pauses the AI cards if a call or a day goes over the limit you set.

Microphone and speakers

Meeteor hears you through your microphone and the other side through your speakers or headset (Windows loopback). Pick both in Settings → Audio and watch the meters move.

  • If Meeteor only hears you, check that the call's audio plays through the output device selected in Settings → Audio.
  • Bluetooth headsets switch to a low-quality mode when their microphone is in use; a wired or USB headset gives better transcription.
  • Unplugging a device during a call shows a notice; pick the new device and carry on.

Projects, sources and glossary

A project holds the documents, notes, calls and glossary for one client, deal or topic. During a call Meeteor answers from the project that is active.

  • Add sources by dropping files on the Sources page or pasting text or a screenshot with Ctrl+V. PDF (including scanned), Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CSV, Markdown, HTML, email and images are supported.
  • Review the glossary. Meeteor proposes names and acronyms from your documents; accepting them improves transcription and search.
  • Write a brief. A few lines about the project's goal help the cards stay on point.

During a call

Start listening with Ctrl+Alt+L, the tray icon, or Start call on the project's overview. The overlay shows the transcript, related snippets and cards.

All shortcuts can be changed in Settings → Hotkeys, which also shows any combination another program already owns.

After the call

When you stop, Meeteor writes a summary with decisions, commitments, open questions and action items, each linked to the moment it was said. Everything is searchable from the project and available to Ask and to future calls.

Privacy modes

  • Local: transcription and AI on your PC (Ollama). Nothing leaves the computer.
  • Hybrid: transcription on your PC; the AI uses your Anthropic or OpenAI key with transcript excerpts and matching snippets.
  • Cloud: transcription with your OpenAI key as well.

Settings → Privacy shows exactly what leaves the computer in the current mode, and the Transparency Center lists every request.

Recording consent: laws on recording and transcribing calls differ by place, and some require everyone's consent. Meeteor never announces itself in a call; telling the other people is your responsibility.

Licenses and founder purchases

  • A license is one seat (one person) for one major version, with its minor releases and security patches. It is not a lifetime license: the next major version is a discounted upgrade. Install it on the computers you personally use.
  • Support and Meeteor Cloud are sold separately and are not required. This help center is free for everyone.
  • Windows founders are taken to the welcome page after checkout, with the beta download unlocked. Your receipt comes from Stripe.
  • macOS pre-orders are delivered when macOS ships. You can cancel for a full refund at any time before delivery.
  • Founder Cloud starts its first year on the day Meeteor Cloud launches.
  • Refunds: Windows licenses within 30 days of purchase; pre-orders any time before delivery. Contact us with the email you paid with.

Troubleshooting

  • No cards appear: check that the right project is active, that it has sources, and that your key passes Test in Settings → Providers. Related snippets need sources; AI cards need a working key (or Ollama in Local mode).
  • The other side isn't transcribed: see Microphone and speakers.
  • Something else: Settings → Developer → Open logs. The logs hold IDs, sizes and timings, never transcript or document text, so they are safe to attach when you contact us.
